So, the big question: what is an alpha female?  In short, an alpha female is a woman who is in charge.  Whether this means taking charge of the family, kicking butt at work, or simply being in control of her busy life, the alpha female is your typical superstar overachiever.  Or, at least, that’s the old definition… 

The origin of this blog is actually quite different.  I’m what you might call an accidental alpha. I never planned on being the sole provider in my marriage.  I never planned on having a flashy career.  Geez, I didn’t even plan on being in charge of walking the dog every day.  Somehow, over a period of a couple  years, it just seemed to *happen.*  I was the alpha in the relationship, while my significant other was the skillful and charming yet undeniable beta. 

The challenges and surprises that this lifestyle has thrown at me have made life a true adventure.  Alpha Female, Beta World isn’t here to tout the virtues of being an alpha woman, per se–it’s here to explore the ramifications of that lifestyle, accidental or not.  So please, whether you’re a stereotypical alpha female or not, come, read, discuss, and enjoy a fresh perspective.
